Q. Do you feel relationships within games are meaningful? (Answer!)
A. Definitely. What's the point in playing an online game if you're going to act like it's 1player...
Q. What music do you like to play games to? (Answer!)
A. Usually just the background music that comes with the respective game. Most are pretty good/fit the ambience. I'll turn music off during raids or when I have to listen in to vent. If I'm bored, I'll just listen to a playlist off of Pandora.
Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
Q. If you could bring any book, movie or comic to life in a game, which would you choose? (Answer!)
A. The Legend of Drizzt, I guess. There's already several Forgotten Realms games but most are primarily 1-player. I'd like one in a continuous MMORPG setting.
Q. How many hours a week do you play? (Answer!)
Q. Beside GamerDNA, what are your favorite websites? (Answer!)
A. Xfire, Gaia, deviantArt, Wikipedia, WoW Armoury, IMVU, and the respective guild forums of the guilds I'm in.
Q. When do you play, including timezone? (Answer!)
A. Since it's summer, any time from noon through 3-4 am the next day, EST. Damn those late night raids, I'd personally like to sleep a bit earlier myself.
A. *deep breath*
Omen, Gatherer, AtlasLoot, Cartographer, QuestHelper, Deadly Boss Mods, Nudge, ErrorMonster, foreverAFK, GroupCalendar, MyThreat, OneBag, Parrot, RangeDisplay, Violation.
Q. What do you love or hate about PVP? (Answer!)
A. I dislike the stress. Some people claim it's not stressful, but for me it is, because I'm being judged by my teammates, as well as the opponent. Plus I judge myself.
It's fun knowing you can beat another player as opposed to a NPC which has preset actions and don't understand your tactics.
I like PvP in games where it allows you to win through a variety of methods - ie not just gear, not just a fast internet, not just reflexes, not just knowledge of the terrain, etc.
Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. When I get PRETTY stuff. :D
In WoW that's usually mounts, minipets, or completing a set of armour.
Same with GW, sans the mounts.
Same with PW, with the mounts and sans minipets.
...etc...
Q. What are the proper uses of tank guns and bubblegum? (Answer!)
Q. What are the specs on your gaming rig? (Answer!)
A. Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 315 GB
Video Card: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card: SigmaTel Audio
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300)
Q. Are you interested in working within the game industry? (Answer!)
A. It would be fun, but it's risky to devote all your studies to gaming/programming/graphics and then HOPE that you'll make it onto the developers team of a future famous game.
Q. In real life, are you male or female? (Answer!)
Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
A. Some I made up with really no meaning, others have meanings in Elvish or are roots/bits of words I mashed together.
Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. Fun but impractical. It's hard to get enough serious RPers to make it really happen.
Q. How do you feel about playing characters of the opposite sex? (Answer!)
A. I like the way girl toons look and since I'm a girl, it's all cool with me. But as for male characters, they're usually uglier or buffer. (I'm a fan of agility over brute strength) I can understand why guys would play girl chars.. so they can inspect their boobs and legs... but I generally disprove of it.
Q. Have you ever had a memorable real-life meeting with other gamers? (Answer!)
A. Sadly, no. I do have involved discussions with my gamer friends in school sometimes, but I've never been to a con/expo or anything.
Q. What sort of tools (calculators, builders, spreadsheets, etc.) do you use to plan your characters? (Answer!)
A. None <3
I have a friend who's obsessed with tables and calculations, but they make my head spin. I generally read up on the more generic guides online, then draw my own conclusions in my brain. I really haven't screwed up any of my characters spec/build/attribute wise yet.
Q. What is the most overlooked or misunderstood game? (Answer!)
A. Any game can claim to be misunderstood by the people who dislike playing it. All games have fanbases, so none is overlooked.
A. Yes, and I have a microphone
Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. Generally as close to human as possible (for games with many races.) If given the choice, I'm always a female Elf, and my class is usually Archer, Rogue, or Healer depending on what the choices are. I hate tanking/melee roles in general.
Q. What are your thoughts on player-made mods/addons for games? (Answer!)
A. If the makers of the game approve of it like in the case for WoW, then go for it. If not, then check first to see if it's counted as a hack. I have no qualms about using window-mode programs on games that don't provide a windowed option.
Q. What sort of players annoy you the most? (Answer!)
A. People who betray you for selfish reasons, guild masters/officers that show favoritism, drama whores, people who stereotype based on the class you play.
Q. What is your first computer or video gaming memory? (Answer!)
A. Probably one of those kindergarten instructional things, lol.
Q. What experience do you have beta-testing games? (Answer!)
A. Quite a few, but not many... PerfectWorld is my most memorable beta testing. I've never been in any closed betas but I've played several open. I'm currently hoping I'll be selected for the WOTLK beta.
Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. lol
I don't really approve of it, but hey it's your money. Cash shop is selling virtual items for real money, yea? I don't understand how anyone would be stupid enough to pay money for something you can get by working a little harder.
Q. What is the most memorable flamewar you can remember? (Answer!)
A. ROFL
Probably the one that occurred within the Archer Council guild while I played MS. I can't say it was VERY memorable, but I still remember it which is a step up from other flame wars which I've completely forgotten.
Q. If you could cancel any online game, which would it be? (Answer!)
A. The crappy ones that were built off of pre-existing game engines and simply retextured. I don't hold any particular hate for any one game.
Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. To meet people, as well as have a competent group of people to run with during raids.
Q. When you are not playing games, what do you do for fun? (Answer!)
A. Drawing on Photoshop. I occasionally watch anime if there's a new episode of a series I like. I also spend time watching my diamond doves :3
Q. Have you ever had a romantic encounter with someone you met in a game? (Answer!)
A. Why isn't there a multiclass option?
Q. Other than your console or PC, what is the piece of hardware you can't live without? (Answer!)
A. My cellphone, I guess. I don't use it very much (why rack up a phone bill when you've got vent and all sorts of messengers) but it's sort of like a safety blanket to me, in case I get lost and need to contact someone for help.
Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. A large continuous world with high diversity of terrain and features. I'd like it to be with good gameplay, but also a focus on making it immersive and have strong RP elements instead of just levelling and getting powerful. Everything should be interactive, including the grass, trees, sky, you name it. 3D, of course. PvP would be enabled but the consequences of PK should be similar to those of real life in the time period (middle-earth fantasy) the game takes place in. There should be many titles and many MANY ways to build your character (not just levels/rep grind/PvP prowess.) There should also be extremely high character customization and race/class choices. There should still be classes though, unlike Mabinogi and RuneScape. Classes shouldn't have preset "party roles."
